Avignon - Old City

Tuesday, June 14 ~~ Sunny, very warm, breezy

The city of Avignon called, so we went out for a mid-day coffee and dessert, then onward!

We had heard that a synagogue dating from before 1221 was in the city, so we meandered through a good part of the pedestrian section

 and found it - it was being repaired, so we couldn't see very much, but it was interesting to know about

Then we found a Cathedral

Then the clock tower(s)

A preview of the Pope's Palace

We ended up on the ramparts by the river

and came back to the hotel via the Musée Calvet, another preview :-)
