Glasgow Green

It was a beautiful, sunny day, and The Glasgow Green called! I figured out which of the many buses would get me there and back, and headed out...

First stop, Saint Andrew's Church

Then to the entrance of Glasgow Green via the McLennan Arch

Looking back at the High Court of Justiciary

Down the path to the 2014 monument

To Nelson's Monument (with the People's Palace in the background left, and maintenance machinery in between)

Check out the Saint Andrew's Suspension bridge across the River Clyde

Back across the green to the People's Palace

Winter Garden - temporarily closed due to covid

The Doulton Fountain (see more sides of it in my Scotland 2022 album
Quoting the plaque:
THE DOULTON FOUNTAIN
Designed by A. E. Pearce and modelled by students from Lambeth School of Art, the fountain was first erected in Kelvingrove Park for the International Exhibition of 1333.
It was moved to Glasgow Green in 1890 and to its present site in 2004. The fountain depicts Britain's four colonies: Australia, Canada, India and South Africa, with soldiers and sailors above and Queen Victoria presiding at the apex.
Standing fourteen metres high, is the largest terracotta fountain in the world.

And an interesting business building...

I made a quick (ish) stop on the way home for this peaty Islay scotch - continuing our do-it-yourself whisky tastings...
