Head-up Displays and Tiny Houses...
Cleaning out even more old stuff - what a mish-mash!
Hand-outs from college job faires included these two pieces focused on the latest technology - 1984's aerospace head(s)-up displays. As a note, Kaiser Electronics (which became Rockwell-Collins*) was the last company I worked for, and is still a leader in HUDs - and people still argue over whether the "s" belongs. ;-)
A few days ago, I marathon-watched a tiny-houses series; it reminded me of one of my favorite childhood books, where a family moves into a trolley car - certainly one of the originals in the tiny house movement. And, voila! It turned up in the pile of "stuff to sort!"
I was either ahead of my time, or certain fields move quite slowly...

Mississippi River in Fall
This Fall, we knew we were leaving Iowa. We wanted to make the most of our remaining time, so we took a few side-trips!
Here is the Mississippi river, which forms the Eastern border of Iowa.

Backyards
We've had quite a few backyards over the past few years - I've enjoyed the views; hope you do too!
The backyard where it all began, in northern California
Our first house together, at Moss Beach
The Forever Spring of San José, Costa Rica
Winter, spring, summer, and fall in Iowa
And the watermelon-red of the Sandia Mountains from Albuquerque, New Mexico
Remember, no matter what they say, sometimes looking back is FUN!

Adios, Iowa
I woke up this morning in Wichita, Kansas. After 3 fulfilling, interesting contracts in Iowa, I left that Midwest state in all its fall glory. In the month before, we had visited Minnesota and areas along the Mississippi, hoping to catch a glimpse of fiery trees. We mostly succeeded, but I think Iowa kept its fireworks in reserve for yesterday's blazing farewell.
Of course, my camera was packed away...

A Twin Cities Fall Weekend
We went on a weekend road-trip from our place in Iowa, up to visit a friend in the Twin Cities. It was a *beautiful* Fall weekend in early October, and we were dazzled by the area! We drove around the many lakes in Edina and Minneapolis...
Even though it was Fall, a few flowers were exuberantly present!
We went on to the Mississippi River, and saw even more color
Saint Paul had some amazing architecture
And we were awestruck by the modern (and not so modern) buildings in downtown Minneapolis
Clearly, we got a little carried away....
On the advice of a friend, we went to Hell's Kitchen for breakfast (which was *great!*), so to even things out, we toured the Basilica on our way out of town
