Spain 2026 Sevilla - Jerez

We had originally planned to stay in Sevilla four weeks, but... Part-way through, our apartment had the gas shut off! Well, that took a couple of days to figure out - there was some glitch with the auto-pay, and the gas company was then insisting on a new contract - and! That would take perhaps 15 days! Well past our end-of-stay.

Once we heard that, we scrambled for a new plan. We had already booked our next place, so we didn't want to go far, and we didn't want to just go home early. We found an apartment in Jerez de la Frontera, about an hour South, and on the way to Cádiz, which was our next stop.

So, off we went! We had had terrible luck with the weather (the entire Iberian peninsula was soaked), so we didn't get our "Sunny Spain" vacation, but we had seen a lot of Sevilla before, and could revisit a couple of favorite sites and even fit in some new ones. And of course, we went to a flamenco show!

Jerez de la Frontera is smaller than Sevilla, but still a significant city! We didn't worry about using the buses, since our car was handy, and parking around was not awful 😉.

We walked to the Church of San Miguel

We drove to Cádiz one afternoon, hoping to see some of the carnaval - after what seemed like *hours* driving past FULL parking garages, we gave up, and returned to Jerez 🙄. Lesson learned, we watched the Burning of Momo on TV 🤣. The good news is that this carnaval goes later than most; we'll be staying in Cádiz for the last day!

We toured the Alcázar

We still had our parking contract in Sevilla, plus we had tickets to the symphony - we decided to drive back for that 😊.

Then, for our last night in Jerez, Flamenco! This was a fantastic show - I put the dancer (male) in the top two I have ever seen!

(The other in the top two was perhaps 15 years ago in Costa Rica; the show was "Soy Gitano")
