Highlands Tour 2

Our first real stop on the tour was at Loch Lomond and the Trossachs

As you can see, we expected a lot of rain and grey skies

Sure enough...

It did make for an absolutely stunning sight along the peat bogs of Rannoch Moor, with wispy low clouds giving us hints of eerie lakes and mountains.

We passed 3 sisters and Skyfall (of James Bond fame), and as we arrived at Glencoe, the rain stopped (allowing the wee beasties known as midges to swarm us! Our guide had some excellent repellent though, so we didn't suffer too much).

This is the site of the infamous massacre of Clan MacDonald of Glencoe, where over 30 men, women, and children were killed in 1692. You can imagine how cold this was in February.
