Pont du Gard

Yesterday's big trip was to the Pont du Gard! Rick and I had been before (in 2015, see the post here); this time we brought my parents!

Our morning started off right

But then got awfully breezy! We found an alcove for our picnic lunch :-)

Then set off to see the aqueduct, along with all the other tourists

Mom and I got a good look at the river

While Rick and Dad went up the bank for a different view

We crossed the bridge, but then the wind did us in! We walked through the museum (very interesting descriptions of how the aqueduct was built), then headed home.

You can read about the 40 centuries of history here: http://www.pontdugard.fr/en/40-centuries-history
Practical info (see here for more): You can park on either side of the river (rive droite used to be free, but I don't think this is the case anymore). Rive gauche has amenities, including wheelchairs for loan, and the path to and across the bridge is fairly flat (the other side is steeper).
