Escale à Sète - Sports

The "Capelet Tournament" was on the program for  the Escale today - as usual, I had no idea what this meant! My dictionary indicates that it is a piece of horse equipment... Somehow, I didn't think that applied. I decided to go and see for myself just what this was all about.

As you can see, we have a team of fellows, each attempting to run up a pole placed diagonally across a canal. The objective is to grab one of the hats at the end. Without falling. In the cold water.

They are accompanied by music

I think they get extra points for spectacular falls

I'm not sure what happens if they make it to the hats..
