Brassens, Harleys, and Paul Valery

What an odd combination! Georges Brassens (French/Sétois pop singer), Harley-Davidson (American iconic motorcycles), and Paul Valery (French/Sétois poet), all in one day?!?!

Today, being the first Sunday of the month, "Cap Brassens," a Georges Brassens tribute group, plays at the flea market in Place de la République. Naturally, we went!

On the way to our next stop, we visited the Jardin du Château d'Eau, and Parc Simone Veil

And then, *more* Brassens !

As we were walking, we saw a few Harleys, then noticed that they seemed to be parked in the plaza near the mayor's office

Of course, there were more than Harleys (just look at this beauty!)

I thought that was it... Then! The police closed off the ring road, and a  *huge* "parade" of motorcycles followed!

We watched that for a little while, then  continued on to a different kind of culture ;-)

Normally, on the first Sunday of the month in France, the museums are free; we counted on that...  But, no! OK, the "normal" part of the national museums are free. But, any special exhibit is not part of this program :-\ Equally, a municipal museum, like the Musée de la Mer, is not part of this national program :-(

So, we went into the Paul Valery museum - and that's another post...
