Porto!

We left Lisbon and our awesome, god-like friends, and took the train to Porto!

Finding our train wasn't bad at all, but... We (I) were so anxious to get off the train French-style (wait at the doors) and find out about our transfer, that - we got off one stop too early!! The kind ticket officer saved us - he said to just get on the next train (10 minutes) to São Bento (our final destination), at the same platform we left, and use our same tickets! As this was a much smaller station than the one where we were going to make our switch, it turned out to be a good thing :-)

The São Bento train station was on my list of places to see, so we took a few minutes to ogle the tiles in the foyer.

Directly out the front door was a taxi stand; we hopped in, and were soon outside our apartment - these are our tiled neighbors (the tiles are 3-D!)

Our fabulous hostess, Daniela, met us a minute later, and spent a good long while with us pouring over the map, making suggestions, and answering questions - she even said to text her when we wanted a taxi, and she would arrange it!

Here we are, enjoying a late lunch, a francesinha - a sandwich with a whole pile of meat, covered in cheese, and drowning in sauce!
