Dossier for French Nationality - Accepted!
What does it mean? It means that the French administration, my préfecture, has reviewed the documents that I sent, and they meet their criteria - I won't have to send off for more or different items.
It means that 5 months of agonizing is over - whether my French language certificate really should have been a "diploma," whether Dad's middle initial or Mom's misspelled name will come back to haunt me - OVER!
It means the long wait, made extra long by the coronavirus, is done - for part 1...
What's next? At some point, we will have an interview with the police (similar to what we had for my 10-year residence card). Then, possibly in 1-2 years, we will have an interview at the préfecture in Montpellier. Waaaay down the road, they will forward my dossier, along with their recommendation, to the SDANF in Rezé, where the office of the Minister of the Interior will decide whether to accept my declaration of French Nationality. Eventually, hopefully 2-3 years from now, they will let me know...
